The Christmas Problem

Posted on December 23, 2009

What sort of world did Jesus come into?

What sort of world did he come to save?

I think it is good to look past some of the Christmas joy and look squarely at the need for Christmas.

It has been said that the source of most of our problems in our lives is…ourselves.

Jesus came because of our own individual problems. We might focus easily on someone else and their problems, but if we do we miss (perhaps eternally) what we must see.

He came because we, and the world we create for ourselves, is not healthy or whole. It is sin infested and left desolate in many ways.

Christmas is meant to be joyful, but if we miss this point, we greatly risk having a superficial joy at this season.

Wonderful, needful post, Steve! In church Sunday as we were singing “O Holy Night” my mind began to think about how Jesus left Heaven and came here to tabernacle among us…and the very sentiments you expressed in this post were running through my mind. It was quite overwhelming.

Thanks for posting this, and may you and your family have a wonderfully blessed CHRISTmas!

Thanks Linda. This has been heavy on my heart lately.

The heart of the human problem is a problem with the human heart.

    Good reflection.
