Ouch Moments

I treasure the wow moments in my life.
And wish I was far more perceptive to them and better able to have them inspire and move me forward.
There are also ouch moments that despite their initial sting and lasting wounds, have a much needed influence on me. Ouch moments last longer and the emotions runs deeper.
I am thankful that I am not prone to depression or even serious bouts of discouragement, but I am from time to time moved headlong into heavy introspection about some particular conversation, or thought pattern, or spiritual blemish, or sinful conduct.
And on those days my mind and my heart resemble this picture. They feel barren and distant and cold and un-welcoming. And for a time those thoughts and feelings are productive. A heavy heart and a unsettled mind are potters clay in the hands of my Lord.
