Wow moments
Posted on December 15, 2009
I think God gives all people the joy of wow moments whether they be a sunset, the birth of a child, the first snowfall of the season, falling in love, or watching crashing waves.
But I think God has given those who believe in him additional wow moments while reading Scripture, or listening to a sermon, or reading a book, or talking with Christian friends. Such wow moments, through the Holy Spirit, move our hearts. They inspire us or convict us or humble us or simply get us thinking deeply and spiritually.
God is good to all people, but he is especially good to those who believe in him. May we express gratitude for his goodness.

I agree, Steve. I had a wow moment yesterday while sitting at the computer. All of a sudden, the song “Give Me Jesus” came into my mind. I went on Youtube and watched two versions of it–one by Jeremy Camp, and the other by Fernando Ortega. I sat there and meditated on those words and then began to weep. Yes, my “wow” moment for the day, though a simple song, was pretty incredible.
Thanks, Steve!
Thanks Linda!
Funny that Linda should recall a song for her described “wow” moment for the day, for I had a similar experience this morning that I’d like to share. I was listening to Chuck Swindoll on KKLA while I was in the bathroom. His message was “Our Lord’s Return: What Then?” He concluded the message by having the congregation repeat with him the lyrics from Dotty Rambo’s “We Shall Behold Him” followed by Sandi Patty’s vocal rendition of the song. It was truly a “wow” moment for me. I came out of the bathroom in tears with my wife thinking something was wrong with me. All I could say was, “the song.” She then knew and listened to the message of the song that placed a thrill, a joy, and an expectation that can’t be surpassed for both of us. Wow, what a moment that will be! Thanks Steve for the insight.
You’re welcome pops. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks Steve. I agree completely that God gives us all “wow moments”. Aren’t they awesome? I think He gives us way more of them than we actually see or recognize. I think the business and distractions of this world hinder our ability to see all the “wow moments” that He provides. I pray that God gives us the ability to see past the “clutter” and experience more and more of these “wow moments” each and every day. I especially pray that this Christmas season we can experience one of the most significant “wow moments” of all time and that it fills our hearts with an attitude of gratitude, love, caring, thanksgiving and incredible joy. “Thank you Jesus for the “wow moments you provide. Allow me to be more tuned into you and experience more of them.
Love you brother. Have an AWESOME “wow moment” celebrating the arrival of our Lord and Savior!
Thanks Don. I too want to see more of them!
