Wait for the bang!

Some people, especially small children dislike lightening. Some people, like myself, really like the stuff!

I lived south of Denver for a couple of years as a kid. And Summertime had its fair share of thunderstorms. But very near us was a set of radio towers. And once in a while on of them would take a direct hit. And BANG! As a kid, I loved it. The power and awe of it was the stuff of childhood.

There are some things mortals shouldnâ€™t mess with though and lightning is one of them. The same could be said about not getting a firm handle on our vices (here is one for example). Because before long there is gonna be a BANG one way or another in our life. Life has a way of catching up with us.

Yet because of another BANG two thousand year ago, where Jesus Christ soundly and triumphantly defeated sin, when life catches up with us we have someone on our side who is bigger than life and loves us more than life.

And now we are waiting for another BANG, the return of our Lord, where the biggest BANG takes place for eternity. If we are in awe of lightning, weâ€™re really going to be in awe of living in the presence of the creator of light and the one who called himself the light of the world.

Sometimes we forget we live in such a powerful physical and spiritual world. And we forget the glory and goodness of it. Personally, I needed this reminder.
