A Beacon…

This is a photograph of St. Catherine’s Chapel.
It dates back to the 14th century and it’s along the coast of southern England.
It was built to replace a pagan temple, and as a beacon to navigate worshipers to the Abbey in the village below it.
Later when many such buildings were being destroyed, this chapel survived because it was used to navigate the crossing of Lyme bay in the English Channel.
May the church realize its place to navigate people through life. Christianity will always be the beacon of hope and truth to the world.
If we stay comfortably nestled in our churches, we’ll miss much of the calling of what it means to be a Christian. And we’ll miss the joy of pointing people to Jesus Christ.
