People Matter…

This photograph captures something very important.

If you recognize this place, you might very well be a blessed soul, for you heart might long for better days.

If you were inside this photograph you’d be a bit shorter than the walls at some points and at others points, taller. The walls are actually pillars and there are 2711 of them. The pillars are in uneven ground, so you are most often walking uphill or downhill. You can walk freely through them, but few want to. And it was designed that way.

You’d be walking in the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin. And it’s designed so as you walk, you’re made to feel uncomfortable.

And that is very important.

We’re never supposed to forget that millions and millions of innocent people were slaughtered in some of the most unimaginable ways.

For Christians and Jews, there is the conviction that each of those souls were created by and for God. And thus, their lives were of divine significance. And so were there deaths.

For Christians, there is the joyous truth that each of these souls were created in Christ for good works, so that they may have life to the full and know Jesus’ joy.

This photograph captures something very important. People really matter. We might be too busy or too insensitive or too proud or too busy or too distracted or too downright cold, but if these pillars represented your ugly, inhuman, wicked, grotesque death, you might want the world to know that people matter.
