Big!

This is a photograph of the Natural History Museum in London.

When it was built it was considered one of the greatest building on earth. And there are some, who still think this is true today. It called the Waterhouse Building, after Alfred Waterhouse, the architect of the building. It is a London Landmark and it’s been open for nearly 125 years.

You can read more about it here.

I like such buildings.

It was designed to give the feel of BIG. Not just big to hold the things a museum holds, but to give visitors a sense that they had entered a different world.

We humans like BIG. Big televisions. Big cars. Big homes. Even big hair.

When Jesus came to earth he came as baby. When he died on the cross he wasn’t big and powerful. Yet for those who knew him then, and for those who follow him now, he was and is BIG.

Jesus, God in the flesh showed the world just how big he is. He could talk to a storm, and it listened, and things became calm. Ask your weatherman to try that.

He did radical surgery on eyes and legs and ears with just a few words. Ask your doctor to try that.

And he, most importantly, rose fully alive and fully healthy from the dead. See if your aunt Erma can do that after her funeral.

Christmas is a great time of year, for we get to think of and make much of Jesus Christ.
