Much to learn

A week ago today we hiked Half Dome in Yosemite (see pictures here).

The top picture is of the final leg of the hike. For the last four hundred feet each person has to go up the “cables”. (You can read more information about them here and here.)

I’ve been long impressed with those who have the nerve to go up the cables.

I first climbed them in the late 1980’s. Last Monday was my sixth attempt.

Each time I’ve seen people dig down deep and push themselves up to the top.

The bottom picture is of Breithorn in the Swiss-Italian Alps. See it BIG here. Breithorn puts the cables on Half Dome in perspective.

There is a healthy similarity between these two mountains and two Christians who both have maturity, but one has a maturity that clearly rises above the other.

It is those Christians that we should be especially drawn towards. In our egalitarian culture, we shy away from making such distinctions, but that is foolish. We need to learn what these Christians know.
